Game of Thrones Season 5 Power Rankings – Intro

By D.G. McCabe

The last two seasons have caused serious shakeups in the roster of characters on Game of Thrones.  In order to keep up, here’s an update for power rankings purposes on which characters count for which houses and who we need to drop.  Oh and I’m using new clipart this year courtesy openclipart.org (no copyright or broken link concerns this way) – I need to tweak the graphics a bit so that the icons are more accurate, but let me know what you think about the selection generally speaking.

At the Wall and Beyond

The Night’s Watch

Jon, Sam, and all the other guys in the black armor.

House Baratheon

Stannis, Melissandre, Shireen, Davos, Stannis’ creepy wife Selyse.

The Wildlings

Well, what’s left of them at this point anyway.  Mance and Tormund mainly.

The Others/White Walkers

Ice monsters with an army of the undead at their command.

The North and the Vale

House Bolton

Ramsey, Roose, and an assortment of thugs and goons.  I would lump the Freys in here too since they are essentially Roose’s minions at this point.

House Greyjoy

Yara (Asha), Theon/Reek, and Balon Greyjoy.

House Arryn

Littlefinger, Sansa, Robin, and the various lords of the Vale.

In King’s Landing and Dorne

House Lannister of Casterly Rock

Tommen, Cersei, Jaime, Brianne of Tarth (since she’s on a mission for Jaime) and the court of the Iron Throne.

House Tyrell

Mace, Margaery, Olenna, Loras, and their various attendants.

House Martell

All of the Dornish that we haven’t met yet on the show.

Across the Narrow Sea

House Stark

At this point House Stark is Arya and Bran.  Sansa is now squarely in the House Arryn camp, Jon has always counted among the Night’s Watch, and everyone else is dead.  Arya will in this season, but it sounds like Bran may not be, thus the placement.

House Lannister in Exile

Tyrion and Varys for now.

House Targaryen

This is still Daenerys, members of her court, and her army.

The Meereenese

Hizdahr and the other slimy weasels who called Meereen home.

Anyway – two more weeks!
